A young mum who had just had a baby thanks to IVF has been found dead two days after she vanished.  Police who had been searching for missing Abi Fisher, confirmed they had found her body and have now arrested a 29 year old man on suspicion of murder.  Abi, 29, is believed to have given birth to a little girl in January after going through IVF with her husband Matthew.  After the birth Matthew spoke about their “beautiful daughter Sydney” and the postcode lottery of IVF.  He wrote: “Some of you know that our beautiful daughter Sydney was conceived with the help of IVF.  What you may not know if that IVF access is based purely on your location.”

Abi was last seen at her home in Castleford on Friday but was said to have left the house around midnight.  She then vanished without saying where she was going, which was described as “completely out of character”.  West Yorkshire Police (WYP) launched a missing person investigation, and the community in Castleford conducted searches to try and find the mum-of-one.  On Monday morning, the force confirmed they’d found a body believed to be that of Abi in undergrowth near Brierley, South Yorkshire on Sunday.  A formal identification is yet to take place but police are treating it as a murder.  Parents described Ms Fisher as a "perfect" and "amazing" teacher who brought out the best in their children.  Kirsty Burton wrote on the West Yorkshire Police Facebook page: "Feel sick to my stomach with this! She was such a fabulous teacher and so good with both of my boys."

While Hayley Power said: "Absolutely devastating. Abi was a wonderful person and an amazing teacher to the children in our school, unbelievably kind and caring, loved all her colleagues and the children in school.  Nothing will ever be the same again."

Jade Spencer wrote: "Absolutely heartbreaking you will always be remembered by our children."

Another person wrote about meeting her at the fertility support group.  "Finally had a miracle only for some beast to heave her miracle with no mother,' they wrote.

Ruth Finan said: “This was the amazing Abi Fisher. Before she was married and she was the wonderful Miss Richardson. She really was a perfect teacher. Supportive, firm, kind and gosh she knew her children.  I am so sorry Abi that you won’t see your beautiful baby Sydney grow up. You deserved so much more than this. Sleep tightxx”.

Family member Alex Johnson said: “I have no words.”

Jordan Kenworthy said:  “Abi was such a nice lass. Went to school with her and she wouldn’t hurt a fly.  So sad to hear this news. RIP Abi. My thoughts are with you and your family.”

Gemma Ganeswell from Pontefract described her as an “absolutely amazing person”.  West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in the search for missing Abi Fisher from Castleford.  The body was found in undergrowth off Southmoor Road, near Brierley, South Yorkshire yesterday (Sunday, July 10th). The body has not yet been formally identified but it is believed to be that of 29 year old Abi Fisher.  Her family have been updated and are being supported by specially trained officers.  A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murer and is currently in custody.”

They asked for anyone with dashcam footage who drove on the B6273 between Hemsworth and Great Houghton between 8.15am and 9.15am on Saturday to submit it to them.  Locals told how sorry they felt after driving past and not stopping because they thought someone had been fly-tipping.  One said they saw nothing during their first trip but and on their way back, around 9.45am, they said they wished they’d stopped and were sorry but it; “looked like someone had dumped a load of rubbish”.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Swift, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “On behalf of the police and Abi’s family, I would like to express our thanks to everyone who has assisted in the search for Abi.  We know that there has been a real community effort to find her and that this update will be upsetting for many.  The body has not yet been formally identified and we will update in due course when this has been confirmed.  We are carrying out extensive enquiries and as part of that are appealing to the public to help us by providing any information that could help our investigation.  We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from Southmoor Road on Saturday morning and have set up a specific portal for footage to be submitted to."
